VBD Automotive Technologies Ltd. has only recently started operations and listed below are some of the activities the automotive consultancy firm has been involved in, which is expected to grow considerably as new technology segments are tackled, particularly biofuels:

 i.   MVEC

VBD Automotive Technologies are currently involved in establishing a “Motor Vehicle Environment Committee” MVEC aimed at reducing urban air pollution from vehicular sources in Kenya.  The initiative is lead by Climate Network Africa, a well established NGO and supported by the Climate Change division in the Office of the Prime Minister …updates to follow!

 ii.   Low-Sulphur Workshops

VBD Automotive Technologies, in the fourth quarter of 2010, will participate in several national sensitization workshops on the benefits of using Low-sulphur fuels organized by the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA).  The workshops are supported through the PCFV by USEPA http://www.unep.org/transport/pcfv/pcfvnewsletter/2010Issue2/PublicTransport-Kenya.html  

iii.   Clean Fleet Management

VBD Automotive Technologies have embarked on a regional Clean Fleet Management program with the “Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles” aimed at reducing harmful vehicle emissions through improving the maintenance and utilization management of large vehicle fleets.  Our focus will be on vehicle fleets in the Eastern African region http://www.unep.org/transport/pcfv/regions/MENAWAnational.asp  

iv.  Climate Change

VBD Automotive Technologies have successfully engaged with several key players involved in climate change mitigation strategies and have been involved in several activities including participation at the 8th Global Partnership Meeting of the “Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles” held from the 21st to the 22nd of April 2010 at the USEPA HQ in Washington D.C., USA.  The summit explored several aspects on harmful vehicle emissions particularly in developing and underdeveloped countries http://www.unep.org/transport/pcfv/meetings/8GPM.asp

v.   UNEP Partnership

VBD Automotive Technologies were invited and registered as partners of the United Nations Environment Program’s (UNEP) Transport Division’s “Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles” http://www.unep.org/pcfv/partners/industry.asp

vi.   Aid and Development

VBD Automotive Technologies actively participated in the 2009 Humanitarian Development Summit held from the 29th to the 30th of September in Nairobi, where we engaged with key Aid and Development partners on future collaboration activities that we are currently exploring. vii.   Mobile Library

Mobile Library Launch

Kenya National Library Services launches their new locally built 5000 book capacity mobile library units to replace their grounded imported units with concept consultancy design provided by VBD Automotive Technologies on behalf of DODI Autotech.

Michelin Challenge Design 2008
VBD Automotive Technologies has passed through the first phase of screening process for the 2008 Michelin Challenge Design contest.

Patent Applications
VBD Automotive Technologies is in the process of registering a number of Patents to be commercialized early in 2008 which we hope will make great strides towards achieving our vision.

University of Nairobi Lecture on the Regional Motor Industry
Training the Automobile Club students of the Nairobi University on Engineering prospects in the regional automotive industry and giving a presentation on the same to the students at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi on Friday the 8th of December 2006

Vehicle Body Concept Designs
Mobile Library Vehicle designed developed for Kenya National Library Services Ltd. through DODI Autotech Ltd. who are constructing the vehicle body.
Mobile Roadshow Vehicle designed and developed for a local pharmaceutical firm DAWA Ltd. for marketing their products.

Future Strategy Concepts
Monocoque bus development ideas shared with a local vehicle body builder with future development potential under discussion. This forms a key part of our future expansion strategy.

Basic Utility Vehicle Marketing Analysis
Research and Development on a Basic Utility Vehicle in conjunction with the University of Nairobi in Kenya and Penn State University in the USA, where VBD Automotive Technologies has been involved in concept studies and carrying out a marketing analysis on the vehicle population growth in the region and evaluating the potential market for a Basic Utility Vehicle including discussions on the environmental impact assessment of the proposed distribution system.
